Two-Phase Bath Oil

Two-Phase Bath Oil

The Hallstar Company

Posted: September 21, 2011 11:00 AM CDT

This formulation makes use of mutually incompatible butylene glycol and isopropyl myristate to create a two-phase bath oil. Isopropyl myristate delivers a soft, light feel to skin.

Application: Bath/Shower

Formula Procedure

Add A to the main vessel. Add B in order with continued mixing until uniform. To a separate vessel, combine C, D, and E individually, mixing until uniform (use oil-soluble colors). Add CDE to the main vessel. Maintain strong mixing during filling, as phases will separate on standing. Alternatively, keep phases separate and add desired proportions of each to the package using separate fillers. Note: Water-soluble fragrances may cause excessively slow phase separation due to coupling by the surfactants used to induce water solubility. Generally, oil-soluble fragrances are preferable.
